"Walsall Life" - Painting Competition launched for schools in Walsall
G Purchase Construction Ltd are presently renovating two tower blocks; Smith and Thomas House in Walsall. The work involves external repairs and refurbishment, environmental improvements to areas surrounding the blocks, and the internal refurbishment and redecoration of the main communal lobby and lift areas.
To supplement the internal refurbishment works and create a more homely environment within the communal areas we are seeking to hang artwork, created by local school children on the feature wall of each lift lobby on every floor of the two blocks. To achieve this we have started a painting competition involving local schools within the area.
The competition is under the theme of "Walsall Life" which can be interpreted in any format. The winning pictures will be hung in each of the thirty lift lobby areas and the two main lobby areas.
A local artist and art gallery owner has been appointed and will be available to offer advice to the pupils. A selection of the pictures will be exhibited in his gallery, and all parties involved will be invited to the viewing. The winners of the competition will be invited to a presentation evening to be held at Walsall Football Club in January 2008.
